Pine Lakes

Pine Lakes Country Club has the distinction of being the oldest course in Myrtle Beach. First built in 1927, on natural dunes less than a half mile from the ocean, designer Robert White utilized the numerous freshwater lakes and rolling terrain of the area as the backdrop to one of Myrtle Beaches' favorite courses. The course re-opened in March 2009 after a major $15 million dollar "Nip/Tuck" and has garnered rave reviews. Play has been re-routed so that the former front nine are now the closing holes, two new holes have been added to the front nine to incorporate the new entrance off Grissom Parkway and the greens have been restored to their former originally designed size, considerably larger than when last played. New to Myrtle Beach, SeaDwarf Paspalum grass blankets the entire course from tee to green. This bright green environmentally friendly grass is highly salt tolerant, requires 50% less water for irrigation and needs up to 75% less nitrogen for fertilizer thus putting much fewer chemicals into the ecosystem. Because of the player-friendly qualities of Paspalum (golf balls tend to sit up in the fairways making for easier shots) and the quick recoverability from divots & high traffic, it is a natural choice for a seaside golf course.

Reduced to a par 70 while playing a little longer at 6675 yards from the Championship tees, Pine Lakes has a course rating of 72.3 and is sloped at 134. Renovations were made under the watchful eye of the National Historic Registry so when finished, both the course and the clubhouse, would retain their historic status. Come sample the history and tradition that is Pine Lakes.
